Additions - Project 4

Oakland Ranch Addition and Remodel

The kitchen, living and dining rooms of this 1960's ranch home were dark, cramped and didn't connect to the rear yard or view to the front. The owners wanted to add to and reconfigure their kitchen. By removing a nonfunctioning and cumbersome brick fireplace in the Living room and adding approximately 100 square feet to the kitchen the main living areas of the home were transformed. The kitchen, with an island, offers a view of Mt. Diablo in the front and connects with glass pocket doors to the spacious and bright Dining room with views of the backyard at the rear. The clean, spacious character of the ranch home was reinforced by simplifying the interior, increasing the natural light and opening the spaces to each other.
